Day 2: Daily life

Slow but steady progress today. We played blocks on the floor and after a long time and lots of blocks passing between Rikke and myself, Olivia will now take the blocks and other stuff from me.

Then we made a video trip to the swimming pool... follow with us:

After the trip to the pool we set up the tripod for a family portrait. Olivia is looking intently at me. She does a lot of intense looking... but we are sure that she is taking us in because a few times today she copied our actions.

In the afternoon we hung out on the balcony as the Monsoon rains started. We have a vacant lot beside which is full of trees that remind me of the rainforest in Australia.

We were blowing bubbles to pass the time and she enjoyed it very much. Later she took the bubble blower from Rikke and dipped it herself in the liquid and held it for Rikke to blow.

Dad went shopping at the markets and we had our first home-cooked meal. The promised veges, grandma!

Thanks (og tusind tak) for the continued supportive comments here and on Facebook... and all of you that we know are behind us. These have been big days and we value your closeness from the other side of the world - both sides really. I guess we are about half-way between our Danish and Aussie worlds.

(Anne Mette)

  2. Dear Aaron and Rikke, you are doing wonderfully. These are beautiful and very precious pics. Olivia is slowly building her trust - copying what you do is an indication of that - and it will grow each day.

  5. Dear Rikke
Your relationship with your daughter is secured. She trusts you already. Well done. It may be hard work for you at the moment, as Olivia is not as secure with men but Aaron is a gentle man and Olivia will realise that very soon. Hang in there, you're both doing terrifically well.
    With admiration,
    Chas
